Frank Lloyd Wright’s Heart Island House

SHARE
Legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright began building a dream home on his heart shaped island of Petra north of New York City before his death, but it was ultimately finished by Joe Massaroi and architect Thomas Heinz. Completed in 2008, the 11-acre island is home to a 5,000 sq. ft. main residence and a 1,200 sq. ft. guest cottage. It is now on the market for $19.9 million.

The property is home to many 200 year old Beech trees as you can see the main house just beyond as it juts out over the water.

The foyer hosts a 60-ft wide by 12-ft high rock that dominates the complete left side of the space from its back wall to the front entry doors. The ceiling is a massive geometric wood structure with glass filling the spaces between.

The master bedroom features a rich wood, offset chevron ceiling design lit from above. It anchors itself into a rugged rock wall at the back of the room.
