Microsoft’s Briefing Center in Wallisellen, Switzerland

Microsoft's office building, in Wallisellen, Switzerland, are enjoying the recent completion of a superb Briefing Center, by Stuttgart based firm Coast Office Architecture. The modernistic, almost futuristic, monochrome meeting zone sets a cutting edge tone, and holds a sleek laptop bar and flat screen display monitors in a stretch of glossy black glass, integrating Microsoft's Kinect and Surface technology.

The reflective nature of the wall treatment reflects the light from the digital media throughout the space and a graphic surface application echoes the angular fashion of a bespoke seating area that zigzags through the central zone, splitting the use of space.

The Briefing Centre is separated from the rest of the Microsoft office by a run of floor to ceiling grey curtains that shroud a glass perimeter, allowing either a light and bright meeting environment with full view of the hustle an bustle of the entire working environment, or a more hushed and dramatic presentation atmosphere in complete privacy.

When the glass walls are exposed, they sport a matching graphic treatment to the glossy black media wall, keeping the design story consistent throughout.

At the far end, a huge meeting table stands equipped for much larger meetings, seating a total of twenty people.
